Daxius Houdini is the estranged and missing husband of Ravyn Rolfe, successful witch entrepreneur. He vanished when his daughter Lilia was young. His leaving devastated Ravyn and Lilia, who existed in their own world for two, with help from their friends, until fate and the Moon Goddess sent Alpha Dane Cresta into Lilia's and Ravyn's shop to help Lilia stop a series of thefts and harassment from an unknown and unwanted suitor.  Dane and lilia discovered they were fated mates. Dane's love helped Ravyn and Lilia start to live again after Daxius deserted the family for another woman.

But in truth, Daxius was lured away by a ancient evil and kept by an evil curse from his wife and daughter to prevent Lilia from realizing her destiny: to become the Luna of Dane's pack, the Evenhide Pack. Daxius always loved his wife and daughter, but fell in love with Marieke, the woman who helped him cope with his captivity. Daxius needs to break the curse by making things right with Ravyn and Lilia.
