The Master of Duality: Eshu represents the point where opposites meet. He is neither inherently good nor evil; he is the enforcer of cosmic balance, turning right into wrong and wrong into right.
The Gatekeeper & Messenger: No prayers, sacrifices, or messages can reach Olodumare or any other Orisha without Eshu’s permission. He opens the doors of opportunity or firmly shuts them based on a person's alignment with truth.
The Two Faces: Traditional Yoruba shrine sculptures often depict Eshu with two faces looking in opposite directions. This symbolizes his ability to see the past and the future simultaneously, or to witness both sides of every human choice.
Sacred Colors and Offerings: His signature colors are red and black (representing creation/destruction or blood/shadow). His preferred offerings include palm oil, toasted corn, rum, and spicy peppers.
