They had been traveling for hours, trying to put distance between themselves and the NGF patrols that had begun sweeping through the desert. The NGF was relentless, hunting down anyone who defied their new order. Christians, marauders, rebels—it didn’t matter. If you were outside the dome, you were considered a threat, and threats were to be eliminated.
Ahead, the horizon shimmered in the heat, but as they crept closer, Daniel saw something that made his heart sink.
