That seems to be true, but not because of me being "smart." As a natural philosopher, I routinely deal with concepts that I barely comprehend. As for the picture, I'm a Navy veteran. How's a spaceship much different than, say, a submarine?? You go stem to stern, system by system.

This is another variation on a theme. Due to the potentially high temperatures and high thrust velocity, plasma rockets may someday significantly outperform chemical rockets.

A nuclear power plant could provide the power needs even in situations wherein solar energy is insufficient to the task.

Some radioactive isotopes emit antielectrons, also known as positrons. If an atom of a heavy element, such as xenon (a noble gas), gets hit with an antielectron -- then not only is that atom ionized it also has a relatively large amount of energy imparted to it. Both effects would improve the performance of a plasma rocket.

Since the nuclear reactor would produce neutrons --which make things radioactive by adding surplus neutrons -- one *might* be able to produce antielectron emitting isotopes whilst in flight. The doubt being that many such isotopes have a neutron deficient, not a neutron surplus.
