Sir Frederick Grant Banting - Canadian Hero

Sir Frederick Grant Banting discovered insulin with Charles Best in 1922 The two won Canada's first Nobel Peace Prize.

After this breakthrough, he became Canada’s first professor of medical research at the University of Toronto. Banting was also an accomplished amateur painter. Banting had enlisted in the Canadian Army Medical Corps. He received the Military Cross for his valour under fire. In 1919, he returned to Canada.
