After a mad rush to school, we found the gates closed and the awards ceremony already started. Even though the humble guard allowed I backed- off irking my mom, I got a long scolding from my mom on the way home. I can understand she’d travelled 5-6 km just for this, so when she asked about the event and I told her it was the Celestial Awards, she hit me with the classic middle bencher thought that "everyone can receive it but not us ." Emotional damage, but I love you, Mom I know you were mad that day 😅.

In the afternoon, I asked my topper friend Miss Y what happened. Guess what? I GOT THE AWARD 😤😮‍💨!

Luckily, our headmistress let absentees receive their badges later 🤭🥹. I told my mom, and she was happy. My teacher gave me the badge at the parent-teacher meeting, and my parents were proud. But I wasn’t as thrilled because receiving it in front of everyone would have been epic—the surprise on their faces and rubbing it in our haters' faces. 😆
