The Cape Sharks were down to their final out.

The Crabs had defended home plate all season with iron claws and an attitude to match. But when the winning run broke for home, the crowd rose from their seats and held their breath.

A cloud of dust exploded across the plate.

The crab swore he made the tag. The shark swore he beat it. The umpire wisely decided not to get between them.

After several minutes of arguing, three replay reviews, and one missing rosin bag, the call stood.

SAFE.

The Sharks won. The Crabs protested. The fans celebrated.

And somewhere in the stands, a banner appeared that perfectly summarized the game:

"Bite. Slide. Repeat."
