Poor Jenni

In Manhattan offices, colleagues are often let go home early on Fridays during the summer. That’s what happened today too, only Jenni was the only one left in the whole neighbourhood. The dear external partner firm had sent the expected documents late; she still had to read them, work out what to do next, and of course the dear and beloved external partner firm would be expecting a reply today. Jenni hadn’t slept well last night; Benji’s sofa isn’t really meant for two people to sleep on. She’d slept on one sofa with Giulia, whilst the twins were on the other. Giulia had been tossing and turning all night – she probably hadn’t slept well either – but this had kept Jenni awake as well. And then there’s Benji. Of course, he offered her his own bed, but it wouldn’t be proper to accept that. And poor Benji – Jenni can clearly see he’s suffering, but there’s nothing she can do to help him right now: she can’t sacrifice herself.
