# Only the male incubates and cares for his chicks. Females are larger and dominant. After laying a clutch of eggs, she goes to find another male within her territory and repeats the scenario again. She might do this up to 4 times, depending on how many males are within the outer edge of her territory.

# While the female is larger and more powerful, it's the male that people should be afraid to disturb. He is fiercely protective of any perceived threat to his chicks, and considering they stay with him for at least 9 months...! 

# The have 3 toes on each foot and very **powerful** legs. The inner toe has a dagger-like claw up to 10-12 cm (4-5 inches) long. They can also leap up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) high giving their powerful kick enough force to shatter bones while their claws can easily disembowel any predator (or person).

# Yet they are rather shy and elusive birds, preferring to flee from people. The ones who are dangerous are those who've mingled with people (read: tourists).
