Just to add to his challenges, let's say he's blind too. But his other senses are super-sharp, his reflexes are like lightning and he is learned well beyond his opponents in protection of self and those in his favour. And of course, his trusty dogs look after him, as he does them.
I present to you a ronin-in-a-dieselpunk-wasteland creation inspired by, among others, Zatoichi (esp. the 2003 movie), Blind Fury (1989) and obviously the Mad Max movies.
