The child, however, sought not the prayers but the Keeper of the Prayers, a wraithlike entity said to weave the despair of the lost into the mist. For what purpose, none dared to imagine.

As the night deepened, the Lost Child stepped forward, the Stag-Rabbit close. Each step was a silent pact, each breath a stolen moment from time itself. Tonight, they would not seek to free the prayers but to listen—to learn the stories woven into the very mist and stones of Whisper Hollow.
