Lunch on the road

The team often ate lunch on the road. Iceland – although its chefs regularly finish in the top spots at the Bocuse d’Or competitions – is rarely covered by restaurants outside the capital. It is extremely expensive to go to a restaurant locally; it is no coincidence that a simple Reykjavík hotdog has become the most popular and well-known eatery in the country. For this reason, many people (both locals and tourists) eat at local gas stations and supermarkets, which often operate as a kind of hot-kitchen buffet in addition to the store function.
