She was carrying a sack of potatoes from the store back to the inn where she works. A pair of laughing nobleman raced past her, spattering her with muck. She was so surprised she fell backwards and dropped the sack. A single potato rolled out and was stopped under a sandaled foot.

She looked up to see Motoman Nine Eyes standing over her, his face inscrutable. She hurriedly got up and tried to clean herself off with her kerchief.

"I'm told you aided in my rescue, young alchemist. We have much to discuss. Return to your place of dwelling and gather your things. You'll come to my tower in the palace of Fanae Ondoril, to begin your training."

She brightened, but then looked hesitant. He continued speaking. "I know you've begun a different life here, you may continue it on your own time. In my tower you may resume ethical alchemical research, I've an adequate laboratory."

With that she smiled brightly and ran off, then remembered to turn and bow before running again.

I really like the story that goes along with this. Beautiful image too!

The halls were ancient and dank, torchlight created pools in the stretching darkness. Finally she stood before him, lounging casually on a throne. She raised her chin and regarded him quietly.

Baratoum sneered. "Welcome, princess. Amourn Tor is an ancient stronghold, from long before Almecca was united, forgotten, by most. You'll find its accomodations less opulent than you're used to."

She stepped closer. "It needs a great deal of renovation, but the location is ideal, high vantages, only two points of approach, easily defended. Spacious enough to house a formidable host."

He was quiet a moment. "You are your mother's daughter, aren't you. Good. I've been raising a host, slowly, quietly. We must spin spiderwebs if we're to challenge Almecca. Let us discuss the future."
