Luma will generate 5 seconds @ 24fps (120 frames) for 40 credits.
Luma Dream Machine (A.I Video models in general) is still an early-stage technology, and is a bit less reliable than image generation models. Sometimes the resulting animations can be amazing, but they can be disappointing at times too. It may take a few attempts to get a good result.
Note that the aspect ratio of the video may be different than the input creation as Luma can only output the following dimensions: 1024x1024px, 752x1360px, 1360x752px, 1552x656px, 656x1552px, 1168x864px, 864x1168px. The image chosen will be cropped and rescaled accordingly to best fit one of these.
Prompt Tips for Image to Video:
- Be descriptive: Include image details, actions, and how scene elements should move.
- Specify camera motion: e.g., "dramatic zoom in," "FPV drone shot."
- Detail actions and motion: e.g., "teddy bear swimming with arms and feet, water splashing."
- Describe object features: e.g., "white teddy bear, sunglasses, soft fur."
- Set the scene: e.g., "cloudy sunset near Caribbean beach."
I see your writeup missed the part where it costs 40 credits and there are no free trials.
Crazy expensive, right?
Compared to what that $1.60 will buy in clean water or funds towards a meal, it's kind of whacky... but I guess the tech is costly in energy, GPU and CPU power and of course profitability for the Luma shareholders that needs must! I probably spend a lot of time considering the value vs cost of AI creative endeavours but know that my budget has to consider how much my spend on NC = value as entertainment for myself vs how much my spend on a single video rendering creation out of that is worth. and to me, it isn't! Esp when all that happens is someone likes it or comments "wow, cute!" after the fact!
I just saw the cutest schnauser driving a tiny ferrari so actually decided to see how it works since I've not bothered with the other video thing either.. and it's FORTY credits? Good heavens! I mean, I get that it's costly for them to host but it's unsuprising it's not going to gain much traction at approx USD$1.60/attempt!
Bruh! Why is it Only for Pro?.. even Lumalabs give free 30 tries for a month... 😕
good to know, yeah it would be nice for some free tries, it would be smart for both them and Lumalabs. It is trial and error and chance, so if you make 10 creations that costs 20 bucks. Give people a chance to want to use it, rather than feel they wasted there credits. You really need to create a lot more to know how it works and what works well. Its like any model you really need to use it and get used to it. All the NC workers and profit sharers must have unlimited cause you see the same people make great ones over and over and tip everyone that comments a credit. Those are part of the profit share program and they have it made. Everything is costing more and more on this site. They have been making a lot of bad financial decisions.
I am still in awe...how in the world is this possible...I bet StevenSpielberg and the Lukas-Guy could not imagine the future back than...I am lacking words...Hugs
This is so much better than SVD but the price is very steep. I think 25 or less credits would be far more acceptable
Very beautiful results are possible with this model, although I get somewhat better ones with the other new model available. This one seems to need a more detailed and precise prompt text for great outcomes, which might mean that I have to learn to get better at it. I do agree with others that the price makes it unaffordable for many. I have at least 2 less than mediocre results, which might or might not be my fault. I don't know. But I sure love the possibility of using this, and others have been able to achieve gorgeous animations that I love to look at. Thank you for providing us with these new models. Maybe NC can offer specials for these models in the future.
Cost way to much, It might work good if you know how to use it but you can only learn from trial in error and at 40 credits, that is to expensive for chance. Its would be beneficial for NC and Lunalabs to offer free tries so people can at least try it and not try it once and then get a bad result and never use it cause it cost 2 dollars each time you create. The basic plan cost 10 bucks and you get pro and 200 credits and that is only Luna creations, not to mention you need to make a creation 1st. Its not really that much better than the 5 credit model. So man times it just zooms in or just moves left and right and no real animation.
Looking at the prompts for some of these creations, this model still needs a ton of work. For FORTY credits, I would expect all parts of the prompt to appear, at the very least.
