The seer stood upon a stone as the tide came in, and raised up his voice, and declared the prophecies that had been revealed within the walls of his mind. He shouted and he declaimed, and after a time a gale whipped across the beach, and a storm blew up, and he took this tempest as a proof of the veracity of his teachings. On and on he preached, and his booming voice was swallowed up by the roaring wind and surf, even as he roared until he became hoarse. But the wind heard him not, being a thoughtless and lifeless aspect of nature, and his mission was fruitless.
